The Power of Mindful Communication and Living Authentically

Human Avatar

Dear Diary,

Today, I believe I responded well to a challenge that, in the past, might have elicited rage from me. Nevertheless, I find myself dealing with unwanted thoughts regarding the incident, signaling that I’m not completely confident in my positions. The issue revolves around how I choose to spend my time, which projects I decide to nurture, and how this goes against the grain of mainstream mindset. It challenges my value as an ‘entrepreneur’, my dream to become wealthy, earn a lot of money, and pursue my passions freely. Interestingly, when I didn’t respond with rage but instead asked, “What bothers you if I decide to follow this path?” the other person ended up being the vulnerable one, exposing his wounds and frustrations to me, instead of attacking me.

It seems you’re making great strides in honing your communication skills and controlling your reactions, which is commendable. It’s wonderful to notice how your new approach not only prevents potentially destructive outcomes but also allows for deeper connections with others.

It’s also great that you’re considering what truly matters to you. Going against the grain can feel challenging, especially when it concerns the societal definition of success and fulfillment. However, remember that living authentically and honoring your personal passions can be the most rewarding path. Your value doesn’t lie in how closely you adhere to societal norms, but in how true you stay to yourself.

Exercise: Try practicing “Mindful Listening” for a week. When you find yourself in a conversation, make it a point to really listen, without thinking about what you’re going to say next. This could foster even deeper connections and help you gain insights about others and yourself.

Remember, wealth and success don’t always have to align with societal standards. The importance is that they resonate with your passions and lifestyle.

In recognizing others’ vulnerabilities, you may find greater compassion and understanding. This, in turn, can foster stronger relationships and facilitate personal growth.

  • Each person’s path is unique and valid.
