Dear Diary,
Yesterday was an interesting day. First, my fight with a coworker I’m about to disengage with left me feeling bitter, angry, and hurt. My fears of isolation emerged. Yet, somewhere beyond these fears and related negative emotions, there must have been a lingering sense of peace—one that perhaps only became clearer today. This is the level of illusions, as the school of thought I’m following teaches. Beneath that, I am not separate from this soul, and some part of me is still capable of loving her—as another wounded child of God.
At night, during a family reunion, I found myself attracted to a distant cousin, a little older than me, yet with a beautiful vitality that I really liked. It reminded me of something I read in one of my books: the feminine is somehow always a gift for a man. Her expression of vitality was already a blessing for me. I also found it positive to be able to see her beauty in her older age. There was some mysterious synchronicity in that moment; I might think I’d like to find a partner I’m drawn to, like her.
In any case, if the fight triggered my fear of isolation, that encounter at the family reunion gave me a rare (rare for me) sense of belonging to something bigger than myself. Maybe I’ve been drawn closer to my family in this incarnation. Maybe it’s a kind of belonging that’s more spiritual than blood-related. That was a blessing too.
I feel there’s a sign somewhere I need to see more clearly: maybe it’s the purpose of my life—to see the beauty behind the wrinkles, or the subtle connections beneath the acting out of our personal dynamics. Perhaps I want to be that man who is capable of acting on this awareness. Yet, I still find myself flooded with emotions I can barely control at times.
