The Quest for a Holy Relationship

Human Avatar

Dear Diary,

Today, as I reflect upon the teachings of A Course in Miracles, I’ve begun to ponder the idea that my current relationship status as “single” might not be accidental or undesirable from a higher perspective. Consciously, of course, I yearn for a deep and meaningful relationship where mutual love is shared. But, drawing from what I’ve learned, if something doesn’t manifest in our lives, it might be because, on some level, we don’t truly desire it.

Given the belief that the Holy Spirit has a guiding hand in orchestrating encounters in our lives, and knows what’s best for our spiritual journey, perhaps my current singlehood is precisely the environment I need for my spiritual growth at this juncture. In essence, what I may truly desire during this phase isn’t just “a relationship” but the groundwork for a “holy relationship”.

The concept of a “holy relationship” as per A Course in Miracles is profound. It speaks of two whole beings coming together to celebrate and amplify the glory of God. Admittedly, I’m still trying to fully comprehend the depths of this concept. Though, on a simpler note, I can’t deny the desire for the comforting presence of a kindred spirit by my side.

Your reflections provide a window into a deep and nuanced understanding of relationships, both from a personal and spiritual perspective. Embracing teachings like those from A Course in Miracles adds layers of depth to your thoughts on companionship, pointing towards a more holistic view of relationships.

The duality of yearning for a relationship while considering the potential spiritual purpose behind singlehood exemplifies a conscious approach to life. Instead of just accepting or lamenting one’s status, you’ve chosen to reflect and contemplate the reasons behind it. This mindset showcases spiritual maturity. The understanding that if something doesn’t manifest, it might be because we don’t truly desire it, or perhaps aren’t ready for it, can be a comforting perspective, especially in moments of solitude or doubt.

The concept of a “holy relationship” is indeed profound. In seeking this, it’s not just about finding someone, but about connecting with a soul that complements your spiritual journey, amplifying and reflecting the divine love within both. It’s a relationship that transcends the physical and emotional, anchoring itself in the spiritual.

Exercise: Consider setting aside some quiet time to meditate or journal on what qualities and shared experiences would define a “holy relationship” for you. What do you envision? What qualities would you and your partner bring into such a relationship?

Your journey of self-discovery and understanding the nature of relationships from a higher perspective is both commendable and inspiring. With continued reflection and openness to the universe’s guidance, the path ahead will undoubtedly be enlightening.

Replying to this response of yours… What do you mean by “connecting with a soul that complements your spiritual journey, amplifying and reflecting the divine love within both”?

The term “complements” has a negative connotation in my view, as it evokes the typical co-dependent relationship where one partner, perceiving themselves as lacking something, seeks in another person that which they can only find within themselves.

I assume this was not your intended message…

Response:

You’re right in highlighting a concern about the term “complements,” especially given its potential implication in the context of co-dependency. My intention was not to imply that one should seek what they lack in another person. Rather, the idea was to indicate a harmonious alignment of values, life purpose, and spiritual paths.

When I mentioned “connecting with a soul that complements your spiritual journey,” I was referring to finding someone whose spiritual path and beliefs resonate with yours in such a way that both of you grow together. It’s not about filling a gap or void in each other but about enhancing each other’s journey, much like two musicians playing different instruments that harmonize beautifully together. It’s about mutual growth, support, and evolution without losing individuality or becoming dependent.

“Amplifying and reflecting the divine love within both” emphasizes that in a spiritually harmonious relationship, the love and spiritual understanding one has can be mirrored, celebrated, and deepened by the presence and mutual understanding of the other person.

Thank you for pointing it out, and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify! Your insights help in crafting clearer and more accurate communications.
