Dear Universe,
Sorry to be such a downer today, but I think when I’m least inclined to practice gratitude, that’s when it may benefit me the most. Tonight, as I sit here upset, what can I find gratitude in? I realize I have an array of ‘cognitive’ tools at my disposal to counteract this surge of negativity. Some tools might even backfire if misused. For instance, the misunderstood urge to forgive can be vexing, especially when engulfed by a justified wave of anger. But I recognize its true purpose: it’s not about being righteous or doling out benevolence, but purely to free myself. I’m aware that these trying times might be shaping me for better outcomes, even if they feel overwhelmingly frustrating now. I’ve learned that seeing others not as separate but as an extension of myself can be a valuable lesson. And I know how to ask to see things differently, and that’s the biggest thing. You know what? After all, I have a lot of things to be grateful! 😊
🙏
